Iron Elk Academy · Golf Lessons in Onalaska, WI
You don't have a coaching problem. You have a time problem.
Year-round golf lessons and coaching in Onalaska, serving the greater La Crosse area. A few hours a week, no clear plan, and a swing you've been told six different things about — so you work hard and improve slowly, if at all.
The Academy exists to fix the plan — not to sell you more hours.
The honest part
Most golfers have given up on lessons.
Not because they stopped wanting to improve. Because they tried it, it didn't work, and nobody could tell them why.
An hour, a swing thought, and nothing else.
You leave with something to think about and no plan for what happens next. A fortnight later it's gone, and so is the money.
Somebody rebuilt your swing.
You got worse before you got better — except you stopped before the better part arrived, because nobody warned you that dip was coming.
Nothing was ever measured.
No before, no after. So nobody can tell you whether it worked, including you. It comes down to whether it felt like it did.
You practiced, but not at anything.
A bucket of balls and no task attached. It feels productive, it fills an evening, and most of the time it changes nothing at all.
The real damage isn't the wasted money. It's that most people who quit on lessons don't conclude the lesson was bad — they conclude that they're the problem, and then they stop asking for help.
Our approach
How we do it instead.
Not much of this is clever. Most of it is just refusing to do the things above.
Your plan comes from your numbers, not our method.
Two players who walk in the same afternoon leave with different plans. What we work on is whatever the assessment says is costing you the most and your goals — not whatever we happen to like teaching.
Minimal Changes
We're not interested in rebuilding your swing unless that's your goal. The smallest change that makes the largest impact is the best one, because it's the one that will stick for months after.
We coach less than you'd expect.
Improvement happens between sessions, not during them — and a plan built for six hours a week is a different plan from one built for ninety minutes. Sometimes the honest answer is that you don't need lessons at all, just a better way to practice.
Step one · everyone
The New Student Assessment
Ninety minutes with one of our instructors in a TrackMan iO bay. You leave with numbers, video and a written plan — nothing to sign, and no obligation to book anything afterwards.
90 minutes with one of our instructors
Pricing will be released soon.
In ninety minutes you'll know exactly what's costing you strokes and what to do about it. If you don't, tell us before you leave and we'll refund it on the spot — no forms, no argument. Enroll in an Academy program within 30 days and your assessment fee is credited toward it.
What your assessment includes
TrackMan Combine
Sixty shots to ten targets. A single score out of 100 and a breakdown of every distance in your game, so the weak spots stop being a guess.
Ball flight & club data
Launch, spin, low point, face and path on every shot — the numbers that actually explain the miss instead of describing it.
3D motion analysis
Full-body capture shows how your hips, torso and arms sequence together. The pattern explains the swing far more than any single position.
Video analysis
Face-on and down-the-line footage reviewed with your coach, so you can see where the swing is helping and where it's costing you.
A personalized plan
A step-by-step plan built around your goals, your body and the practice time you honestly have each week.
Coach recommendation
An honest read on the right path — a program, a single lesson, or just a practice structure. Sometimes the answer is that you don't need us yet.

Step two · what your coach recommends
Then one of three things.
At the end of your assessment your coach recommends one route — not a menu. No prices here because it depends what you need; you'll get them in the room.
They differ in how much coaching sits between you and the work. Only Ninety Down puts a second measurement at the end — which is the only way you'll ever know for certain whether it worked.
Structured Practice Plan
A written plan you work on your own, so the time you do have counts for something.
Hourly Lessons
Hourly self-paced lessons booked with one of our instructors
Academy Program
Coaching shaped around your schedule and the practice time you genuinely have, with facility access between sessions. Billed monthly, cancel any time.
